Everyday dilemmas
- Would you rather always be ten minutes late or always be twenty minutes early?

- Would you rather never have to sleep or never have to eat?
- Would you rather lose your phone for a week or your wallet for a week?
- Would you rather only use the stairs or only use elevators for the rest of your life?

Absurd but weirdly hard

- Would you rather have a rewind button or a pause button for your life?
- Would you rather speak every language or talk to animals?
- Would you rather sneeze glitter or hiccup bubbles?
- Would you rather have a personal theme song that plays when you walk in or a laugh track for your jokes?
- Would you rather live in a world without music or a world without movies?
- Would you rather be able to fly but only at walking speed, or run at the speed of a car?
- Would you rather have hands for feet or feet for hands?
- Would you rather be famous for something embarrassing or unknown for something great?
Tradeoffs that reveal something
Ask why after every answer. That is where it gets good.
- Would you rather know how you die or when you die?
- Would you rather be deeply loved by a few or liked by everyone?
- Would you rather relive your best year or skip your worst one?
- Would you rather have a job you love that pays little or one you tolerate that pays a lot?
- Would you rather always tell the truth or never be lied to?
- Would you rather be the funniest person in the room or the smartest?
- Would you rather forget your past or never be able to imagine your future?
- Would you rather live one wild life or two quiet ones?
For couples and crushes
- Would you rather go on a spontaneous road trip or a carefully planned vacation together?
- Would you rather get a handwritten letter or a surprise date?
- Would you rather cook together every night or try a new restaurant every week?
- Would you rather have the first date again or skip straight to the comfortable stage?
- Would you rather we finished each other's sentences or kept surprising each other forever?
- Would you rather slow dance in the kitchen or sing badly in the car?
- Would you rather share every playlist or keep one secret one each?
How to use them
The answer is the least interesting part. Always follow up with why, and if both people pick the same option, ask what would have to change for them to switch. That is where opinions and values show up.
Mix the sections. Two absurd questions in a row keep things fun, then one tradeoff question adds depth without killing the mood. Ending on something silly is a good way to keep the energy up.
These are great for breaking the first-message freeze. If you are matched with someone on Hush and do not know where to start, a would you rather is an easy invitation that does not require either of you to talk about yourselves yet.
Questions people ask
Both options need to be genuinely tempting or genuinely bad, so there is no instant answer. The best ones force a tradeoff between two things people value, like time and money or freedom and security.
One person asks, everyone answers at the same time by pointing or voting, then the minority has to defend their choice. Rotate the asker so everyone gets to bring their own dilemmas.
Yes, especially early on when there is a lull. They are playful, they reveal how someone thinks and they give you something to laugh about together without feeling like an interview.
