Where you are right now
- What is taking up most of my energy, and is it worth it?
- What am I tolerating that I do not need to?
- What would I do this week if I were not afraid of looking foolish?
- Where in my life do I feel most at peace right now?
- What am I avoiding, and what is it costing me?
- What does my calendar say I care about, and is it true?
- If today were a typical day for the rest of my life, would I be okay with that?
- What do I need to hear right now that nobody is saying?
Patterns you repeat
The questions that explain why the same things keep happening.
- What situation keeps showing up in my life, and what is my part in it?
- When do I shut down, and what usually triggers it?
- What do I do when I feel insecure?
- Which compliments do I brush off, and why?
- What do I tend to do right before I quit something?
- What do I criticize in others that I also do?
- What excuses do I use most often?
- How do I behave when I do not get what I want?
Relationships
- Who do I feel most like myself around?
- Which relationships give me more energy than they take?
- Who do I need to reach out to?
- Is there anyone I am holding a grudge against, and what would letting go look like?
- How do I show love, and is it the way the people I love receive it?
- What kind of friend am I, really?
- Whose approval am I still seeking?
Values and direction
- What three values do I want to guide my decisions this year?
- When did I last act against my own values, and why?
- What does success mean to me, not to my parents or my feed?
- What do I want more of in the next year, and what do I want less of?
- What would I regret not trying if I stopped today?
- What is one thing I can do this month that my future self will thank me for?
- What am I ready to let go of?
How to use them
Write the answers down. Thinking about these questions tends to loop, while writing forces you to finish a sentence. Even three lines per question gives you something to reread in a month.
Do not try to answer them all at once. Pick one section a week, or one question a day. Reflection works best as a habit rather than a single heavy session, and the answers change as you do.
Some of these are easier to explore out loud with someone who has no stake in your life. A stranger in the Deep Conversations vibe on Hush cannot judge you later, which can make it easier to say the honest version of an answer.
Questions people ask
Start with where you are right now: what is taking up your energy, what you are tolerating and what you are avoiding. They are concrete and often reveal which deeper questions to explore next.
A few minutes a week is enough for most people, with a longer session at natural transition points like a birthday, the end of a year or a big life change.
That can happen with hard questions. Balance them with ones about what is going well, be kind to yourself in how you answer and consider talking things through with a friend or a professional if something heavy comes up.
